Sporting Weekend With The Kids
I am super proud of both my kids over the weekend. We flew back to the UK to head over to Windsor for a corporate charity event. Upon arrival at the hotel, De Vere Beaumont Estate, I was overwhelmed by the scale of the event. I have only been with the company for a year and didn’t necessarily appreciate how big an organisation it was with participants from over 23 countries. It was like a mini sporting event.
The event was called “The Spirit of Belron Challenge” and was held at Dorney Lake. My son was the youngest participant and even got a shout out from the CEO during the morning speech. He finished the 5KM run with a respectable time of 35 minutes. My daughter was a bit faster with 32 minutes.
The event was to raise money for Afrika Tikkun. A charity that is based in South Africa with a focus to empower youth from cradle to career through a wide variety of development programmes.
Credit has to be given to the company for hosting such an inclusive and family friendly event. There were sufficient catering and activities throughout the day. The weather was brilliant and I wished I would have known about this place before I moved.
The following day, we couldn’t resist to drop by Woking to participate in the junior park run. They did not achieved their personal best this time around but it is understandable with the run the previous day and the late night.
We are now recovering from an exhausting weekend and the kids are now well asleep.
