Tal Bachman – She’s So High

It has been difficult at work the past couple of weeks but I ended this week feeling fulfilled. Although there is still a lot more to go, you gotta celebrate the small wins. That’s why I select this song mainly because of the sense of feeling high. I know the song is unrelated but it was the first song that came into mind when I was reflecting on my mood. So, here is to the end of the working week.

Canadian singer-songwriter Tal Bachman, son of legendary rocker Randy Bachman, burst onto the music scene in 1999 with his hit single “She’s So High”. The power pop song, inspired by a real-life high school experience, became an international success, reaching number 3 in Canada, topping the US Billboard Adult Top 40 chart, and breaking into the top 10 in Australia and New Zealand. Bachman’s self-titled debut album, produced by Bob Rock, showcased his talent for combining sincere songwriting with well-crafted sonic finesse5. The song’s catchy chorus, featuring Bachman’s falsetto leaps inspired by The Beach Boys and The Beatles, along with its references to historical figures like Cleopatra and Joan of Arc, helped make it a timeless pop-rock classic. “She’s So High” earned Bachman BMI’s Song of the Year award and propelled him into the spotlight, leading to appearances on major TV shows and features in prominent music magazines.
