Skyworlds Theme Park Genting Highlands
As if our agenda back in KL wasn’t busy enough, we decided to add a day trip to the outdoor theme park of Genting Highlands.
I bought the tickets in advance from Klook which allowed me to scan the QR code at the entrance of the theme park. It is cheaper than buying it at the entrance.
Nestled high in the mountains of Malaysia, Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park is a marvel of entertainment, bringing together the magic of cinematic experiences and adrenaline-pumping rides in one stunning location. Opened to the public after much anticipation, this world-class theme park is a must-visit for thrill-seekers, families, and anyone looking to escape into a world of fun and excitement.
The theme park boasts several themed areas from popular franchises such as Ice Age, Planet of the Apes and Rio.
There are also 3 complimentary virtual queue passes with each tickets. This is helpful for popular rides although our queue times were manageable in comparison to most theme parks we have visited.
If you are worried about the weather, there is a rainy day guarantee. If it rains for continously 2 hours, a weather guarantee which will allow you a free return ticket will be issued or a 50% discount for your next ticket purchase. You will need to download the app and load your ticket onto the app to benefit from this.
Among the plethora of attractions, one ride stands out as our absolute favorite—Independence Day: Defiance. This ride is based on the blockbuster “Independence Day” film series and captures the essence of an alien invasion like no other. As you enter the queue, you’re transported into the world of high-stakes battles and heroic efforts to save humanity.
The ride itself is a thrilling 4D experience that combines cutting-edge technology with heart-pounding action. You’re seated in a motion simulator that moves in sync with the on-screen action, creating a fully immersive experience. The storyline is gripping, placing you in the midst of an alien invasion where you must fight to defend Earth from the extraterrestrial threat. The combination of realistic special effects, sound, and motion makes this ride a standout, leaving you breathless and eager for another round.
Some of my top tips:
- Bring a disposable raincoat or poncho for the Epic Voyage to Moonhaven ride
- The Samba Gliders ride in Rio doesn’t permit any bags. Avoid the locker fees by not carrying a bag inside the theme park
- Use your VSQ passes through the kiosks to skip the queue at some popular rides
