Sugar Ray – Answer The Phone

End of the week and was looking at tracks for the Friday music post and Sugar Ray came into my mind. For some reason, I can’t find the video on their official youtube channel but hosted by a fan instead. Well, this is my favourite song from the band despite all their other hits. I used to have this track on replay.

Sugar Ray is an American rock band that originated in Newport Beach, California, in the late 1980s, co-founded by vocalist Mark McGrath and guitarist Rodney Sheppard. Initially, their sound leaned toward funk metal and alternative rock, but they achieved mainstream success after shifting to a more radio-friendly, pop-influenced style. Their breakthrough came in 1997 with the infectious hit “Fly,” featuring reggae artist Super Cat, which topped airplay charts and propelled their album Floored to double platinum status. Sugar Ray followed this success with a string of memorable hits, including “Every Morning” and “Someday” from their triple-platinum album 14:59, both of which became staples of late 1990s pop rock. Other notable tracks include “When It’s Over,” “Falls Apart,” and “Into Yesterday,” further cementing their reputation for catchy, sun-soaked anthems. Known for their laid-back vibe and summery sound, Sugar Ray remains a nostalgic favorite, with their biggest songs still resonating with fans decades after their initial release.
