American Authors – Best Day of My Life
I was reflecting a lot in recent days in 2025 of what I have achieved in 2024 and what to look forward to. I realised I achieved quite a bit personally in 2024. Personally, I made it to the Taj Mahal, attended Oktoberfest and also AWS Re-Invent. These were mainly driven by work. As a family, we watched the Olympics including the passing of the flames, went to Borneo, had most of the family visiting us in Europe and ended the year touring around Taiwan. What a blast! So, I find this song fitting as I want everyday to be the best day of my life.
American Authors is a pop rock band originally from Boston, now based in New York City. The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Zac Barnett, bassist Dave Rublin, and drummer Matt Sanchez. Formed in 2006 at Berklee College of Music, the band initially went by the name “The Blue Pages” before changing to American Authors in 2012.
Their breakout hit “Best Day of My Life” was released on March 19, 2013, as the lead single from their self-titled EP and later included on their debut studio album “Oh, What a Life”. The upbeat and optimistic track quickly gained popularity, featuring catchy melodies and sing-along “oohs” and “ohs”. With its positive message about embracing life and its possibilities, the song resonated with listeners and became a commercial success.
“Best Day of My Life” has been widely used in various media, appearing in over 600 movie trailers, TV shows, and commercials. Its infectious energy and uplifting lyrics have made it a popular choice for advertisements and as background music for celebratory moments. The song’s success helped establish American Authors as a notable presence in the pop rock scene and paved the way for their continued musical journey.
