The Long Walk Windsor
I am back in the UK this week for work and have a rented car which makes it easier for me to get around. On my to do list was always the Long Walk in Windsor. With the weather today, it was perfect and only took me less than 20 mins drive from Egham.
The Long Walk in Windsor is a stunning, tree-lined avenue stretching 2.64 miles from the majestic Windsor Castle to the Copper Horse statue of King George III at Snow Hill in Windsor Great Park. This iconic pathway, flanked by ancient oak trees, offers a breathtaking view of the castle, particularly as it rises in the distance. Originally created in the 17th century during the reign of Charles II, the Long Walk is a favorite spot for both locals and visitors, whether for leisurely strolls or grand royal processions.
I parked at the Long Walk Entrance Car Park which was surprisingly free. Just follow the path accross the main road and it will lead you to the entrance of the Deer Park which is roughly mid point of the long walk.
You will be accompanied by curious Deers throughout the walk. From the other end of the walk, you will reach Snow Hill which has a Copper Statue of King George III riding a horse.
I had dinner in a pub in Windsor to end my day and also clocked in a total 10.5 km over two hours. Am now busy researching what else I can visit in the upcoming days after work.
