Lene Marlin – Sitting Down Here
I will be in Norway for the first time in a couple of days and was looking up for artists from Norway that I knew of. There was the girl duo M2M and Lene Marlin.
Lene Marlin Pedersen, born on August 17, 1980, in Tromsø, Norway, is a celebrated singer-songwriter known for her introspective lyrics and acoustic pop sound. She burst onto the Norwegian music scene in 1998 with her debut single “Unforgivable Sinner,” which became the fastest-selling single in Norwegian history and held the number one spot for eight weeks. Her debut album, Playing My Game, released while she was still in high school, achieved remarkable success, selling over a million copies and producing international hits like “Sitting Down Here” and “Where I’m Headed”. Marlin’s subsequent albums—Another Day (2003), Lost in a Moment (2005), and Twist the Truth (2009)—further showcased her songwriting talent and earned her critical acclaim, including multiple Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy) awards and an MTV Europe Award for Best Nordic Act. Despite her fame, Marlin is known for her reserved personality and preference for privacy, often drawing inspiration from the solitude of her Arctic hometown and the long Scandinavian winters.
