I am officially half way through my journey around Taiwan. Although it is the last weekend before Christmas, I decided to play one of the earliest Taiwanese Artist that I got familiar with, A-Mei Chang.

A-Mei Chang, born Chang Hui-mei on August 9, 1972, is a Taiwanese singer and record producer of Puyuma descent who has become an iconic figure in the Mandopop music scene since her debut in 1996. Known for her powerful vocals and dynamic performances, A-Mei has sold over 50 million albums throughout her career, making her the best-selling female artist in Taiwanese music history. She has been dubbed the “Queen of Mandopop” and the “Pride of Taiwan” for her groundbreaking contributions to the industry. Her career has been marked by numerous accolades, including multiple Golden Melody Awards, and she has set records with her concert performances, such as selling 130,000 tickets for 12 consecutive shows at the Taipei Arena in just nine minutes. A-Mei’s influence extends beyond music, as she has become a cultural icon and a symbol of Taiwan’s evolving social landscape.
