Snow Patrol – Run
I think the running bug have bit me. I have increased my weekly run to three times a week. This week, I am doing exceptionally more due to the charity event the company I work for. It has become and annual event and my family will be joining me. We are all participating in the 5km run which is a good distance for the kids. They haven’t practised much though but I have full confidence that they will cross the finish line.
Hence, my choice of song for this week. Snow Patrol is a Northern Irish-Scottish rock band formed in 1994, known for their emotive, anthemic sound that blends alternative rock with indie influences. One of their most iconic songs, “Run,” was released in 2003 as part of their breakthrough album Final Straw. The song is a powerful ballad characterized by its soaring melody and heartfelt lyrics, capturing a sense of yearning and resilience. With frontman Gary Lightbody’s passionate vocals, “Run” became a fan favorite, and its emotionally charged chorus made it a staple in Snow Patrol’s live performances. The song also gained wider popularity through a successful cover by Leona Lewis, further cementing its place as a timeless piece in the band’s catalog.
