Badminton Olympics Day 1

It was an early start for us today. We made our way into calm Paris. Heavy police presence is felt throughout our 20 minute walk from the station to the Arena for our badminton match. I bought the tickets not knowing which country or players will be in the opening sessions but was fortunate to see all the double players representing Malaysia in action.

The arena was modern and started the proceedings with some light display and some generic olympics introduction video. The camera did pan to us briefly where we started waving the Malaysian flag furiously.

We were seated in the middle which is ideal to catch all the actions between 3 of the courts but we did struggle when there were parallel Malaysian doubles playing at each end. The presence of Malaysian supporters were nice to see and we could see Nicol David seated high up in the stands.

Malaysia eventually won 2 out of 3 of their opening games during the morning group session. We do hope that Badminton will deliver our long awaited Olympics gold medal during this games.

We enjoyed our first Olympics event very much and hope the kids had a great experience. Olympics fever have started within the household.
