Olympic Torch Relay in Paris
Based on an impromptu decision, we made our way to Arc de Triomphe to witness day 2 of the Olympics Torch relay in Paris. We were supposed to join in the festivities yesterday along with Bastille Day celebrations but were getting tired after our early start in Du Louvre Museum.
I inititially hesitated due to the weather but went ahead as the games are now at our doorsteps and we didn’t want to waste the opportunity. After a short RER ride, we were in the center of the action. You can see the anticipation building up with the crowd waiting for the famous torch to pass by.
We manage to find a reasonably good spot near the front and center of the action on Champs Elysee where the torch bearers took turns. We also ended up in the background of a TV interview for nearly a minute. This certainly top it off for the kids more than the actual torch event itself.
I think I have finally caught the Olympic bug and please watch out for more sporting posts over the summer.
