Buffalo Bill

I have never heard of Buffalo Bill before but realised he was a larger than life character when we were in Denver. I stumbled upon his name while looking for places to visit with the kids. We were lucky enough to visit the musuem on the day that entry was free! I always love a surprise.

Buffalo Bill, whose real name was William Frederick Cody, was a legendary figure of the American Old West. Born in 1846, he became known for his diverse careers as a buffalo hunter, army scout, Pony Express rider, and showman. Cody gained widespread fame for his Wild West shows, which toured across the United States and Europe, showcasing cowboy skills, sharpshooting, and dramatized reenactments of frontier life. He embodied the rugged, adventurous spirit of the West and became an iconic symbol of that era, leaving a lasting legacy in American folklore and entertainment.

The Buffalo Bill Museum that we visited was in Denver Colorado on Lookout Mountain. I know there are several Buffalo Bill Museums in the states which only shows how famous he is.

Here are a few photos I took when I was visiting the Museum.

His Burial Site. Short Walk From The Museum

From the visit, I started to get curious about him which led to me finding public domain footage of his Wild West Show. The shows have shaped popular culture on how we view the Wild West. It was also amazing that he brought his show to Europe in the 1900s. Below are some sample footage I have uploaded as YouTube Shorts and more videos can be found on my channel.

I do hope that one day I can leave a remarkable legacy like he has. Enjoy the video and posts.
