SPEED – Nettaiya

SPEED is a quartet girl group from Okinawa, Japan formed in 1995. This song was from their second Japanese Studio Album, Rise released in 1998. The girls would go on to sell millions of records and be one of the most successful girl groups in Asia.

I was still in high school at that time and recall our school have collaboration with Japanese students in our Computer Club and even hosted some visits.

I never knew the meaning of the song as I don’t understand the language but after googling for this post, the song is about longing for a loved one who is far away. I just liked the tune and it is so true that music is a universal language.

The band did reunited several times post disbanding in 2000 to pursue solo projects and for studies.
