Yippie!

I love winning competitions and contest. This time around is the latest CD from Jack Johnson. Speaking about the latest craze on going green, this whole album is recorded using solar energy! Beat that!

Embarrassing Illnesses

Do you have a part of your body that you do not like, dry skins, an overgrowth or hairy mole. Well, do not suffer in silence anymore. Look at this page for remedies and recommendations.

It is an on going series on Channel 4 that I highly believe in the cause. It highlights those illnesses a lot of people consider as taboo or do not speak of. If you are suffering something of discomfort to you, chances are, there are million others out there.

Click Here to browse through some of the illnesses listed on the website. Most of them includes video instructions for how to self examine. From breast cancer to prostate cancer self examination. Detecting all this at an early stage helps a lot.

There are other activities on the pages as well and my favourite was the flash game. If you are an aspiring doctor/surgent or just a jack of all trades, head on to the website for more information. Do be warned that there are excessive showing of skins and nudity.

Cheers.

I spent the weekend redesigning Justdialz.com (until 4.00 a.m. on Saturday) on top of my excursions. I first started by integrating all the variations of the mini pages into one centralized website instead of maintaining multiple identities which can significantly reduce the overheads.

JustDialz.com

Justdialz.com is a unique service that allows people to make cheap internationals via their existing UK phones. It can either be landline or mobiles and there is no registration required to start saving. Call rates start as low as 2p/min!

Then & Now

I strictly forbid myself to not use more than three colours for the whole layout. I decided to go with one of my favourite mixes of black and red which I hope came up pretty well. Since the website has existed since 2003, I decided to give it a fresh and rebellious look.

As I can’t wait to announce the redesign, you might find some pages looking quite empty. However, do let me know what you think about the new designs!

Indepence Of The Seas

The heavy morning showers were deceiving as when it struck noon, the weather was perfect.

I decided to go to the Carribean Festival at Mayflower Park in Southampton. This weekend event was to celebrate the arrival of the largest cruise ship in the world, Independence of The Seas. It will be based here.

Independence of The Seas
One Man’s Dream A Reality!

I have never been on a cruise before and going on board the Independence of The Seas will be a good aim. The ship boasts Golf Simulators, Mini Golf, Rock Climbing Wall, Flowrider (World’s First On Board Surf Park), Ice Skating Rink, Boxing Ring, Casino and Theatre. This are just a handful of what the ship has to offer. The most affordable package is priced at GBP 399 for a 4 night cruise to Ireland. This leads me to think on whether is it worth paying that price for something that you can do on mainland? Well, maybe it is some luxury that I have not come to grasp yet.

The festival was ok to my standards and here are a few random pics of the events.

I might be judging the event prematurely as there will be fireworks in the evening and more performances. I plan to drop by after dinner tonight.

Winchester

Today, I went on a great escape to Winchester, the old capital of England with a group of Malaysian colleagues. We took the 40 minutes bus ride at 9.20 a.m. that cost only GBP 5.80 from the city center of Southampton.

Upon arriving at Winchester, we made our way to the Westgate whereby it acts as a Museum today. We met the attendant on duty named Patrick which spent his childhood in Malaysia when his father was serving the British Army. (Small world!)

Me… A Knight!

Well, I managed to play dress up with putting on a replica armour. Just a stone throw away from West Gate is the Great Hall where it houses King Arthur’s Round Table.

We soon made our way through the high street to the Cathedral. Tickets were priced at GBP 5.00 to get in and there was a free guided tour every hour. The Cathedral was recently made famous after Da Vinci Code used it to potray Vatican City in the movie.

The tour lasted over a hour which I ended up being overwhelmed with information and details that I have bargained for. It was a surprise to find out that Jane Austen was laid to rest here. Although I am not a big fan of hers, I do respect the legacy that she has created for herself.

After lunch, we headed to the City Museum whereby I took some shots behind the Chemist Store Replica.

Continue on walking randomly, we headed to Wolvesey Castle and passed by Jane Austen’s home along the way.

This are the remains of Wolvesey Castle. It was the chief residence of the Bishop of Winchester Cathedral.

That was sort of our last tourist stop in Winchester although we manage to sneak in a few hours of shopping.

Well, Winchester was a lovely place and we even manage to arrange the weather for this outing. It is highly recommended for a cheap day out!

PostSecret Books

The books that I ordered via Amazon arrived today. They are two more PostSecret books into my collection. I got my first copy from The Works which has gone into administration now. Sigh… that was my favourite bookstore for bargains.

Post Secret Books

Well, thanks to the amazing world of technology, such bargains still exists but there is a great difference as things become untangible during your decision period. Well, PostSecret is a blog with cult status started by Frank Warren that allows people to reveal their secrets in the form of postcards.

The website is updated each Sunday with more and more weird and unexpected secrets. People are just such interesting beings. I can’t wait to start digging into the books.

Cheers,

Guilford

Today I had a chance to visit one UK company site at Guilford. As usual, I took the train to get there and it was just a little over an hour to reach. It was a good breath of air to get out of the factory site in Southampton. As a bonus, I also manage to stay dry despite the poor weather.

Me in the train
Me In The Train

Thinking about it, I would avoid the train at all cost in Malaysia. I remember taking the train from Penang to KL Sentral during the school holidays and it wasn’t pleasant. On a separate occassion, I also almost missed my job interview because of the train not showing up and having to get ripped off by a taxi driver. As a consolation, I still manage to get the job and keep it until today.

Woking Station Where I Swap Trains

My journey to Guilford from Southampton required me to make a change at Woking. I missed the first connection whereby the next train available was just about twenty minutes away. I did not have to find out by asking anyone but just looking at the screen which is constantly updated with the latest information. Such information are also available on numerous websites.

Signs, Signs & Signs!

However, the amount of channels of communication they have might be a little obsessive. There are multiple screens, boards with the schedule and announcements on the loud speakers. If you somewhat did not notice any of their attempts to reach you, you can ask any of the many attendants around.

Looking at things, the amount of signs plastered around the station matches the amount of graffiti and vandalism we have at some of our KTM stations. Well, we are just creative and expressive people I guess.

That’s all for now!

Another Sunday Gone

Another Sunday has just flew away. I stayed at home for most part of the day deceived by the weather forecast. I put my weekend travel plans on hold after the dissapointing weather yesterday.

However, I managed to go to lunch with a colleague at Yates although I was planning to use my JD Wetherspoons vouchers. I got myself confused between those two pubs. Do not know why I had the impression that they were under the same management.

After lunch, it was shopping spree for me where I splurge on a jumper and a hoodie.

Upon my return home, I notice the Bowling Green being occupied by people. They were playing Lawn Bowling.

Bowling Green

It is another game that never got me the interest to find out more about it. Somewhat like cricket.

Can’t wait for next weekend as I plan to go to Winchester and Poole.

Well, I will be watching TV and a few movies before I end my Sunday.

Cheers.

Headcases

This is the latest TV Series that I got hook with. It is 30 mins series that airs weekly. It is known as Headcases.

A lot of the jokes revolves around British celebs.

Here are snippets for you to enjoy.
