Visit to Pusat Sains Negara

We decided to have an educational trip to National Science Center out of curiosity. I remembered hearing about the opening of the center when I was in Primary School and once again during Asimo’s (The World’s First Humanoid) visit.

The National Science Centre, or Pusat Sains Negara (PSN), is located on 8 hectares of landscaped groundsat Bukit Kiara, on the northwestern part of Kuala Lumpur. The National Science Centre was established in 1996 to enhance our understanding and interest in science and technology. Over the space of nine galleries are scientific exhibitions to educate through entertainment.

There were loads of exhibits that rival any other international science center but the condition of some are very disappointing. Although there were roughly four school busses in the premises with kids in uniform running throughout the building, it was definately under utilize. I am wondering how queit it will be on week days. It is also funny to mentioned that we even saw a security guard sleeping in one of the small theatre domes.

The huge roof that allows day light into the building in the main dome somewhat reminded me of the British Museum and the spiral walkway paths at the side of the building as well. We visited numerous rooms from at ended our trip either in space travel or the future.

We played a mindball game that apparently tracks your brain wave activity to control the movement of the ball on a table between two oponents. This game at least off set my investment of visiting the center.

Tickets cost RM 6.00 although we were suppose to get a RM2.00 discount with Jusco Discount Cards, they mentioned that their machine has gone bust (What an excuse of having the intention to rip us off, I spare them the benefit of doubt)

Anyways, I strongly feel that the science center should be free for all to encourage more visitors and promote it as a place for a family outing. I sort of understand the vision of having such Science centers but failing to sustain it pulls the whole plug on the effort. Instead of leaving the facilities there idle, making it a free place will ensure a rise in visitors and it can be used to justify additional Government funding. Well, I won’t get to deep into my independent views on it.

That’s all for now and till next time.

Take care!

Who Wants To Be A Superhero

When you thought that Reality Show has reached its limit, think again…..

From the pioneering series of Survivor to American Idol, From So You Think You Can Dance to Pirate Master, Amazing Race to Fear Factor, some have lost its touch and show traids of similarities. Well, nothing can beat Comic Legend Stan Lee’s Who Wants to Be A Superhero.

Who Wants To Be A Superhero

The ultimate prize for winning is getting your character immortalize as one the comic series and also a figurine. (How cool is that!) Watch out for Basura which is my favourite character of all as I think she is hot!

Well, this is one of the series that I have been following as it never fail to amuse me. I consider this as one of those brainless shows for me that I run the risk of having my IQ level dropping at the end of each episode. I am not discriminating the makers of the series or any fellow viewers but that is how I define the shows I watch. Simple matrix, CSI = not good for relieving stress, Brainless Shows = Great as stress relief shows. Are you with me now?

Since I am in the topic of reality series and shows, I also have the whole three series of Drawn Together which is a cartoon themed as a reality series. They have eight cartoon characters with similar to Pokemon’s Pikachu, Spongebob and Superman all leaving under one roof. It is yet again another series that I tune in everytime I want to watch something that can help me fall to sleep.

Drawn Together by Comedy Central

One last thing is that I am not a big fan of Malaysian versions of Reality Shows but I have to admit that I kind of like Project Runway Malaysia that was on telly about an hour ago. It has this uniqueness that tempts me to watch the next episode.

Till next time. Buh bye!

StageGold.com – Your Own Customized Player

I have discovered something new today while doing my Sunday routine web browsing. The page is called StageGold.com which is something similar to Slide.com but for your videos. Practically any flv video that you have hosted somewhere on the web. It allows you to have a customize player from a selection of roughly 30 skins.

See a demo below of a video that I uploaded on Youtube to test this tool. The video is of the puppy that the office that my sister is working in has adopted. It was abandoned at their front door without an aparent reason. Well, have a look at the video and see how freakin cute that puppy is. We are just taking care of it for a day as it is meant to be back with its adoptive parents which are out of town. Enjoy!

You do not need to register to use the tool as it is free but registration is optional if you want to have a record of the customizations you have made. It will also allow you to create a playlist or videos you have as below:

Enjoy having fun with the tool and whats left of your weekend.

Dinner @ Hilton Boardwalk Poolside Restaurant

Finally, we were able to have our long overdue celebration dinner. It was to comemorate the performance thrown during our Graduation dinner at our annual company event. The struggle of having this dinner was because of everyone’s busy schedule and not being available.

Dinner at Boardwalk Poolside

Despite the mixed reviews, the dinner went on well and the crowd turned out was as well. There was concern over the approaching stormy weather as the breeze seems to become stronger as the dinner progress. The shelter in the form of the small shed will certainly not be able to stand a heavy downpour. We were most definately fortunate because the rain came down softer than we anticipated.

The food served was of big portions of Barbequed meat such as Chicken Satays, Sausages and Lamb Shanks. They tasted good but definately too much for most of our appetite.

The good thing is all of us had fun and it was a good end to a yet productive week in the office.

It also just occured to me that I have not been taking the lead like I used to in ensuring that we have a group picture taken after each event. It was a drive that I somewhat lost. With that said, I will make a commitment to do so in upcoming events since I carry the camera along anyways.

That’s it for now. Till the next time. Buh bye!

Day Trip Back to Batu Pahat

My Mum had made prior arrangements to ensure that all hers kids commit to a day trip back to Batu Pahat, Johor. (My Mum’s hometown).

My sisters and me took turn on the wheels along the smooth sailing highway. It has been months since I last visited my only surviving grand parent, my Grandma. My other cousins was busy out and the only one at home was the youngest of all, Steven which is meant to have his UPSR examinations on Monday with 7 subjects. (Luckily, I only had 4 subjects). To take of the stress of him, we took him out for the day.

MInyak Beku

It has almost become a tradition to drop by a temple in Minyak Beku. My insticts tell me that this is a temple that worships the god that protects the sea as there were statue resembling marine creatures and was facing the sea. Well, the main attraction of the temple was huge fishes in shallow ponds. I can’t remember the exact name of the species but people are attempting to touch the fish apparently for good luck. Well, see the video for yourself from my previous trip there because I jumped into the bandwagon as well. ; )

Well, that’s it from now. Till my next post, C’ya!
